Materials and Manufacturing Innovation Roadshow, October 17th 2017

17.08.17 by BBSP

On 17th October (8am until 4pm) the National Composties Centre  will be hosting a number of senior oil and gas industrialists, regulators and four funding bodies who are keen to engage with innovative companies which might be applicable to the needs of this sector which spends circa. £11bn pa on capital and services annually (more than any other UK sector).

They are keen to learn from other sectors and to engage with companies not currently supplying into the O&G sector to address the priorities in the Oil and Gas Strategy which are:

· Recovering oil from small-pools: reducing the cost of development wells to designing optimised subsea infrastructure and tie-backs to existing host facilities or efficient standalone concepts.

· Reducing cost of drilling new offshore wells: (each costs around £50ml; target 50% reduction)

· Asset integrity: over half of all offshore assets are working beyond their original design life. Target: 10% saving. Interests include more effective inspection and corrosion-monitoring technologies

· Digital technologies and data: Advanced methods to acquire, share, analyse and use operational data for improved diagnostic and decision-making in the field. Sensors can also significantly reduce operating and decommissioning costs and the use of autonomous systems in integrity inspection and maintenance.

· Decommissioning (a £47bn+ opportunity in the UK alone)

Who will attend?

· Senior oil and gas industrialists able to articulate the industry’s needs

· Technical specialists covering each of the areas above

· Four funding bodies: Industry Technology Facilitator, Oil and Gas Technology Centre, Oil and Gas Innovation Centre and Innovate UK

· Other innovative companies eager to find new opportunities and collaborative partners
