Overview:

The Centre for Modelling and Simulation (CFMS) has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Systems Engineer with an interest in computational modelling and simulation. CFMS is an independent digital engineering consultancy providing technical expertise to help organisations create better solutions by pioneering new approaches to product development. We seek an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our team.
 

About the role:

The Graduate Systems Engineer will have the knowledge, expertise and capability to model physical systems in the engineering lifecycle, including but not limited to: system function, system architecture, product modelling and test strategies. Additionally, an awareness of modelling and simulation methodologies, techniques and tools used throughout the engineering lifecycle is desired.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the lead technologist to develop, implement and test system models for CFMS customers
  • Contribute to project reports and presentations
  • Present technical project findings at conferences or in project meetings

Decision Making:

  • Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interest of the organisation.
  • Set priorities, develop a work schedule, and monitor progress towards goals and track activities.

  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions that enhance organisational effectiveness
  • Amends priorities to ensure delivery to timelines when circumstances warrant it
  • Resolve points arising from reviews


Experience:

  • Minimum 2:1 degree in a STEM subject
  • Knowledge of programming, for example C/C++, Python or MATLAB
  • Experience of writing numerical simulations in code
  • Knowledge of optimisation and sensitivity analysis techniques would be advantageous
  • Presenting

  • A sound technical background in Physics, Maths, Engineering or Applied Computing domains
  • Evidence of self driven work to deliver technical projects

Reporting to:       Lead Technologist

Annual Salary:    Subject to applicant experience

Package:              25 days annual leave, 4 x salary life assurance, Group Personal Pension Scheme
